The course focuses around CSS which stands for “Cascading Style Sheets” and is used to format the layout of Web pages. They can be used to define text styles, table sizes, and other aspects of Web pages that previously could only be defined in a page’s HTML. CSS helps web developers to create a uniform look across several pages of a website. The course also explores the way of how to set background color, text color, a specific font style for your web page as well as many other CSS design related aspects while providing a modern presentation to the HTML coding language.
This course is for students with basic HTML knowledge.
There are three multiple choice quizzes in this course each carrying an equal weight towards the final course grade. In order to successfully complete the course and obtain your certificate you need to achieve an overall grade of 50% or above at the quizzes.
What will I learn?
Learn how to style your web page using CSS – Cascading Style Sheets. CSS is a style sheet language for describing the presentation and the design of the HTML code. You use CSS in order to apply a background colour, a text colour or a specific font style for your text.

WEEK 1: Style your HTML file
This week covers the css selectors, borders, margins, the text formatting, alignment, transformation, indentation and the decoration of the text, the letter spacing between the letters, the line height between the lines and the word spacing between the words, the text direction, the text shadow, the text size and the font style.
WEEK 2: CSS Tables and lists
This week covers how to create html tables and lists, alignments, hoverable table, responsive table and the nth-child selector.
WEEK 3: CSS Layout and position
This week covers how to create the css layout, how to use the position property, the css combinators and the css selectors.
WEEK 4: CSS Transparency, navigation bar and dropdown menu.
This week covers the css transparency, the css navigation bar, the css dropdown menu and the tooltip text.
WEEK 5: CSS Forms and website layout.
This week covers the image gallery, the css forms and the website layout.
